Since 1999, Helen Badulak continuously thought about putting together a book that would not only share her experience in decorating Pysanky, but also inspire artists by sharing many of her original designs.
In 2003 the chance came when three generations of women decided to work together. Her daughter, Nina McDaniel, organized the book's Technical Preparation and her granddaughter, Kristina Schaeffer, was its Co-writer and Editor.
This book contains 240 full color pages and is based on Helen's 35 years of decorating experience. Pysanky artists would never run out of design ideas if they kept this book handy! Here is a list of some of the exciting features contained within its pages:
† A look at the tools and tips that work best for Helen.
† Choosing your canvas (eggshell) wisely.
† 16 of Helen's most advanced Pysanky designs presented as step-by-step stages that challenge artists to do their best.
† Library of Designs that features collages, photographs of family, and many stories about her Pysanky over the last 35 years.
† A creative biography which depicts why Ukrainian Pysanky are so important to Helen. |
